How Sead Hakšabanovic is really settling in at Malmö after Celtic exit

Sead Hakšabanovic is a player who probably frustrated the Celtic fans the most during his time at the club.

Blessed with undoubted talent, the Montenegro international just couldn’t seem to get a decent run of form going at the club.

Used sporadically by Ange Postecoglou, Sead Hakšabanovic let his frustration over his lack of game time at the club get the better of him as he vented his frustrations on social media.

Brendan Rodgers sent Haksabanovic to Stoke City on loan but a permanent move never materialised for the winger.

Now at Malmo, the 25-year-old has been away from Celtic for a few months now and Joachim Björklund has shared how he is currently doing at his new club.

Sead Hakšabanovic has ‘struggled’ post Celtic exit

Whilst admitting that Haksabanovic is a ‘good player’, Bjorklund has said that the former Celtic winger has ‘struggled’ to win a regular starting place at Malmo.

Björklund told the Scottish Football Podcast, “He came this summer. He had a rough time abroad and they brought him in for quite a lot of money for being in Sweden.

“When he came, he wasn’t really match fit.

“And he’s so far struggled to take a place, but he’s a good player and he’ll get in shape, get in form and then they probably will play him sooner or later. He’s a good player.”

Sead Hakšabanovic’s missed opportunity at Celtic

The irony about Hakšabanovic’s situation now is that if he had held his counsel and stuck out his time on the Celtic bench, he would have gotten his big chance under Brendan Rodgers.

Celtic lacked creativity when Jota left Celtic last summer and with the signings of Hyunjun Yang and Luis Palma not exactly setting the heather on fire, the reality is the Montenegrin would have been pitched in to show what he can do.

Currently injured and unable to face Rangers tonight, Haksabanovic has only made three starts prior to his groin issue.

He was left on the bench on three occasions and failed to even make Malmo’s match-day squad six times this season.

So it seems that his fresh start is not exactly paying off but, hopefully, he can turn that around once his injury issues are over.
