Brendan Rodgers’ return to Celtic looks more imminent as the days, or maybe even hours, pass. The former Leicester manager looks set to take over from Ange Postecoglou in what has been a frantic 48 hours of talks.
With reports now suggesting that Rodgers is speaking to prospective candidates to join his backroom team in Paradise, it seems as though the Irishman is set to be officially named as the Celtic boss after an agreement in principle was made.
One of the motivations behind Rodgers’ decision to return to Glasgow is that he wants to heal the fractured relationship he currently has with the Celtic fans. That’s according to The Daily Mail.

The Irishman is said to be keen to mend the bond that once looked unbreakable during his first tenure as the Celtic boss. The Hoops support took him to their hearts after an Invincibles Treble season and because he was a self-confessed Celtic supporter.
After he left to join Leicester City in February 2019, there was a furious backlash from a large section of the Celtic support who felt that he should have stayed to secure the Treble Treble before moving on to pastures new.

What also didn’t help was that Rodgers took a fair chunk of his backroom team with him in a move that could have destabilised not only a bid for the treble but also the run to nine in a row.
But it seems that many fans have softened their feelings on Rodgers’ return. Many still recognise that he is a quality coach and that the way he left is just the way football goes. Whilst others feel the complete opposite.
What is certain though, if Rodgers is appointed this week, the whole Celtic support must get behind him as he bids to defend our treble and take us forward in Europe.
