ScotRail preparing for huge Celtic support movement

Speaking ahead of the final, ScotRail customer operations director Phil Campbell admitted the company is expecting major demand around the national stadium.

Campbell said: “ScotRail is looking forward to helping football fans travel to and from the Men’s Scottish Cup Final at Hampden this weekend.

“We’ll be doing all we can make the event as hassle-free as possible, which includes more seats and services to help supporters get to and from the stadium.

“We’d encourage everyone to plan ahead, check their journey, and follow advice from our staff to help keep things moving.

“Queuing systems will be in place before and after the match, so please make sure you know where to go.

“Our staff will be on hand throughout the day to help.

“Buying your return tickets to Mount Florida in advance as mTickets on the ScotRail app will help your journey run smoothly.”

The decision to increase capacity around Mount Florida underlines the level of supporter movement expected before and after kick-off.

Hampden occasions continue to revolve around Celtic

Celtic’s regular appearances at Hampden have made large-scale transport operations a familiar part of Scottish football’s biggest occasions.

Extra rail services, crowd management systems, and advance ticket warnings are not introduced without reason. Authorities know Celtic supporters will travel in huge numbers whenever silverware is on the line.

That reality continues again this weekend, with ScotRail already preparing for another major green-and-white movement across Glasgow long before a ball is kicked.
