Celtic have travelled to Kazakhstan this week to take on Kairat Almaty in the second-leg of their Champions League play-off.

Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to wipe out the memory of Celtic’s draw with Kairat at Parkhead after a disappointing first-leg appearance.

The Celtic manager will be keen to prove Celtic’s critics wrong with a big away win as Rodgers hopes to lead his Bhoys into the Champions League for the third year in a row.

And talkSPORT duo Alan Pardew and DJ Majestic sent Celtic a superb Champions League message.

Alan Pardew cries ‘Come on the Celtic’ ahead of Champions League Kairat Almaty tie

Majestic and Pardew were speaking about Celtic after a Rangers fan called their show in pain about Russell Martin and the Ibrox club’s woes on the pitch.

After the fan hung up, the talkSPORT pair gave Scottish football a big up and, in particular, Celtic and Rangers as they head into Europe this week.

Majestic told talkSPORT [11m 25s], I know there’s some other presenters on here, not going to name anyone, who sometimes belittle the SPFL, but we don’t do that do we Pards?

“We have huge respect for giant clubs like Rangers and Celtic and the clubs in the SPFL.”

Pardew replied, “And when they’re fighting in the Champions League and Europa League, you can’t help but be desperate for them to win, aren’t you?

“All the rivalry goes out the window. I’m with them. Come on the Celtic! Come on the Rangers!”

Where Pardew has it all wrong is that rivalry most certainly does not go out of the window

The record Celtic will hope to break with win over Kairat Almaty

Celtic have a tough task ahead of them in Kazakhstan this week as Brendan Rodgers hopes to make the Champions League proper.

However, to get there, the Celtic boss will need to do something no other Hoops manager has ever achieved before.

Celtic will need to record a win in Kazakhstan if they want to rub shoulders with Europe’s top clubs in UEFA’s elite competition.

Celtic have never won in the region before and what better way to get there than creating another piece of history.
