Marco Tilio looks like his Celtic exit is imminent this week.

Tilio has struggled to make his name at Celtic after signing for the club in a record-breaking deal in 2023.

Two years on, the young Australian winger now looks on his way out of the club after making just two appearances and playing just 28 minutes of first-team football at Celtic.

Sky Sports, Anthony Joseph delivered an update this morning after young Tilio completed a medical ahead of his impending Celtic exit.

Rapid Vienna will pay Celtic £1.3m for Marco Tilio

Tilio has featured just twice for Celtic since his 2023 summer transfer but it appears that the Parkhead club may have recouped much of the transfer fee they paid Melbourne City for the winger.

Celtic created history after making Tilio the most expensive transfer export in Australian football history after they exceeded the £1.05m fee Westerlo paid for Jordan Bos.

Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph shared this morning how much money Celtic will get for Tilio after the winger completed his Rapid Vienna medical.

Taking to X, Joseph said, “Celtic winger Marco Tilio has completed a medical ahead of his £1.3m move to Rapid Vienna.

“Sky Sports News revealed on Friday that the Australia international has agreed terms on a four-year contract with the Austrian club.”

So it is possible that Celtic, incredibly, could have broken even or made a small profit on this deal.

Why Australia’s brightest talent Marco Tilio failed at Celtic

Tilio had many problems when he first arrived at Celtic. Signed by the Parkhead club whilst injured, the young Aussie had to wait for his big chance at the club.

However, speaking about his time at Celtic, Tilio revealed last summer how he ‘struggled’ at the Parkhead club since his big move.

Tilio said after completing a loan move to Melbourne City, “It’s probably been my toughest year of being a professional.

“Getting that dream move to Celtic and then pretty much from there, everything didn’t fall into place.

“Being injured there and then coming back here on loan to play football and help qualify for the Olympics, it pretty much all was taken away from me through other injuries.

“It was a tough year being out [around] eight months of the past 12, that’s why I hope to have a really good preseason this year. I’ve got plenty of time to get myself fit and strong and ready to have a good year.

“You spend a lot of time when you’re alone, doing rehab. Mentally, it can get hard. It tested me and really how much I wanted to be who I wanted to be in football. It made me see who I truly am.”

Let’s hope this move works out for Tilio and he can get his career back on track after a tough two years at Celtic.
