Dundee United manager Jack Ross gave a candid post-match interview at Tannadice this afternoon, after watching his team lose 9-0 to Celtic.

The Scottish champions were in irresistible form in the lunchtime clash, with both Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada scoring hat-tricks on the way to a resounding victory.

For Ross, it’s the latest bad sign for his team this season, having similarly lost 7-0 to AZ Alkmaar earlier this month and picked up only one point from five Premiership matches.

He didn’t hold back speaking to Sky Sports, stating: “Humiliating. Embarrassing. There are a few ways to look at it as a manager, as a football club, as players – we shouldn’t lose a game by as many goals or with that manner of performance.

“They should feel that way because it’s how I feel. If you have days like today, it should hurt you immensely. But ultimately, you have to own the responsibility and solution for it. Criticism will rain heavily on you for it. You can only drag your own self out of the situation.

“I don’t think we should be protected by it. Ultimately it’s my shoulders that it falls upon. If there’s going to be heavy criticism, put it on my shoulders. But you can’t run away from it as well. Every player should be embarrassed and humiliated and struggle to sleep tonight.”

The pressure is truly on at Tannadice now and they will have to bounce back quickly or it could soon be curtains for Ross’ project before it’s even truly begun.

They’ve invested in some big signings over the summer but clearly aren’t playing close to their potential.

Celtic sensed weakness in them today and didn’t let up. From our perspective, it was thrilling to watch. From theirs, it’s just the latest nightmare.

It surely can’t get worse for them than here.
