Celtic have just Kyogo Furuhashi on the books as a senior striker after selling Hyeongyu Oh to Belgian Pro League side Genk.

The 23-year-old made 47 appearances for the Bhoys in all competitions, registering 12 goals in a spell largely spent playing second-fiddle to other frontline options.

Reports suggest that Celtic made a profit on Oh, inheriting a sum mooted to be around £4.5 million for his services as he now looks to impress on the continent.

Opening up on his departure, the striker admitted the opportunity to sign for Genk was too good to turn down, as he stated: “KRC Genk is a team that has a lot of experience in training young players. When the interest became concrete, my choice was immediately clear. I can’t wait to show myself.”

Now settling into life in Belgium, Oh has sent a classy farewell message to the Celtic support after leaving Parkhead.

Hyeongyu Oh’s message to the Celtic support

Taking to his official Instagram, Oh posted a story containing a heartfelt message to the Celtic support after leaving for Genk.

The story read: “Hello Celtic fans. My year and a half in Glasgow has gone by so fast. It’s been an honor to be with the best team and the best fans. I will always support Celtic and be with Celtic. Good luck.”

Oh was a passionate presence for Celtic, who left it all on the pitch. Ultimately, he was just a little unlucky in trying to displace Furuhashi for the main starting berth at Parkhead.

Adam Idah also came in during the second half of last campaign and impressed Brendan Rodgers, hence why talks are ongoing with Norwich City to try and secure his signature permanently.

Nevertheless, the South Korea international is set for a bright future in the game. Possessing strength, power and an eye for goal, hopefully he can make a success of his time in Belgium.
