Celtic have officially announced the exit of South Korean striker Hyeongyu Oh to Belgian side Genk less than two years after his arrival.
Oh made his way to the Bhoys in the January 2023 transfer window when Ange Postecoglou was still at the club. He arrived for a reported £2.5m and went on to make 47 appearances, scoring 12 goals in total.
His departure to Belgium is of little surprise. Oh made just three starts under Brendan Rodgers and hadn’t been named in a line-up since December.
Celtic are reported by outlets such as as The Scottish Daily Mail and The Scottish Sun to have received a fee in the range of £4.5m for his services, meaning a tidy £2m profit has been made on his stay in Glasgow.
The Bhoys must put that to good use with the need for signing a quality striker now even more urgent.
Celtic’s Adam Idah negotiations continue
Football Scotland reports today that Celtic’s discussions with Norwich City for Adam Idah have continued in the wake of a rejected bid.
It’s said the English side wants a significantly higher fee than the £4m plus add-ons already offered and that an official second bid has yet to be lodged.
Idah effectively replaced Oh within the Bhoys team last season and many fans are hoping that the South Korean’s exit will now hasten Celtic’s pursuit of the Irishman.

Celtic must come up with a striking option soon
There’s now more pressure on Celtic to deliver a striker in good time with Kyogo Furuhashi the only recognised central attacker at the club.
Rocco Vata had been earmarked to be the third striking option at the Bhoys but has now left for Watford.
In a pinch, Daizen Maeda can play through the middle but he is more effective as a pressing winger.
The competitive season is only a few weeks away and the club head off to the United States soon. At this point, the squad looks undercooked and a lot of work has to be done to get it in shape for the challenges ahead.
