Ange Postecoglou was in fine media form in the aftermath of Celtic’s win over Motherwell at Fir Park tonight, both on broadcasts and in his post-match press conference.
From a Chris Sutton joke on Premier Sports, to playful responses in the Q+A, the Bhoys boss was certainly a good mood and intent on having a bit of fun with reporters.
One of the questions he was asked was regarding team selection and how he goes about the challenge of telling players he hasn’t picked that they aren’t in the squad.

“I don’t tell them, I just avoid them mate,” he quipped as quoted by The Scotsman. “Easy discussion, I just put the team up and walk away.
“I think they’ve all embraced that, they understand it. You saw last year what happens when you put the burden on a very few, you get injuries and it affects us. If James [Forrest] had played tonight or Giako [Giorgios Giakoumakis] had played tonight, there’s no chance for Saturday, so they understand that. They all appreciate and all understand that if we are going to be successful, playing this kind of football, everyone’s got their role to play.
“I think there is a respect within the group. We all know what we are trying to achieve and we all want to do it together. That means that no-one is more important than anyone else.”
It’s the usual mixture of humour and insight we’ve come to really appreciate from the Australian since his arrival in Scotland last year. He really is a top communicator.
He cut a very relaxed figure after watching today’s four goals go in, and it’s fair to say he is happy with the progress of his side right now, despite disappointment on the European front.
It’s a confidence you hope the players are feeding off of too. From the looks of tonight’s performance, that certainly appears to be the case.
You wouldn’t bet against the good feeling continuing in Edinburgh on Saturday.
