One of Ange Postecoglou’s closest allies in football has predicted Celtic will go to another level this season as the Bhoys prepare to kick off year two at home to Aberdeen later today.

Peter Cklamovski is one of the only coaches who has worked with Postecoglou in multiple jobs, following him from Melbourne Victory to the Australia set-up and ultimately Yokohama F.Marinos.

Now a manager in his own right over in Japan, he understands better than anyone what the Celtic boss will be trying to do heading into this season and reckons supporters have good times ahead of them.

Speaking to The Times, he said: “I have no doubt that Celtic will be better second time around. That’s the environment and mentality that Ange injects into every place he is part of. They will improve everything they do.

“When he started last pre-season, there were a lot of bumps and bruises along the way, but you saw the growth in the team, progressively improving and gaining momentum. That will be what it’s all about this year too: improving what they do in every way they can and playing the best football possible.

“Equally I’ve no doubt that, in the second season, there will be challenges and obstacles that they will have to navigate through as well.

“Having a proper pre-season with the methodology of Ange gets players to another level. That’s why I know Celtic will go to another level that will be exciting to watch. That’s the environment that he creates; that’s the mentality he drives.”

It’s heartening to hear the confidence of a figure like Cklamovski on the Ange project at Celtic. He is convinced the Bhoys will be better this term. And we weren’t too shabby last year with many fans recognising the season as one of the most enjoyable in recent times.

Postecoglou has been keen to stress over the last week that pre-season means nothing without a positive impact when the real competitive football starts, so supporters will be eager to see the results of work that has been done this summer.

Today’s match at home to Aberdeen is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate that, with the Dons arriving in form and with confidence.

It’s finally time to see this much-hyped improvement with our own eyes.
