Young Callum Osmand is already making a name for himself at Celtic.

Since his big summer transfer move from Fulham, young Osmand is very enthusiastic about his future at Celtic.

However, Brendan Rodgers has already set out a path for Osmand’s career at Celtic and it appears the Hoops boss is going to send the young striker out on loan.

After starring in Celtic B’s win over Clyde, it appears that Osmand is attracting the attention of a number of clubs as journalist David Friel shares what he ‘knows for a fact’ about the talented striker’s immediate Hoops future.

Celtic will send Callum Osmand out on loan now or January

Speaking about the young former Fulham striker’s immediate Celtic future, Friel says Osmand is likely to be loaned out this summer, or in January.

Friel told The Scottish Sun Sport podcast, “I would be surprised. I think he is clearly a player that Brendan Rodgers wanted to bring in, wanted to have a look at.

“And I’ve always felt from speaking to people that Callum Osmand would potentially go out on loan, either this window or in January.

“I think for a player coming from tier two down in England, obviously loads of potential, pretty young with no first team exposure at all.

“I think it’s a jump to ask him, or expect him to straight away, to go in and be a first team player at Celtic and by all accounts doing well, good attitude, all that sort of stuff.”

Premiership managers are ‘watching’ Celtic youngster Callum Osmand

Young Osmand is clearly a talented striker and it seems that there is a managerial queue forming at Celtic’s Academy to sign the young forward.

Friel continued, “I know for a fact there was a lot of lower league managers and Premiership managers there watching the game and clearly looking at who Celtic have to potentially getting loans there.

“And I would imagine Celtic currently have been inundated with requests to take him on loan. He’s got a good pedigree, good background and I think it’s up to Brendan Rodgers over the next couple of weeks to decide what’s best for his development.

“Is he better staying and working with Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah or Shin Yamada and the other striker Celtic will sign.

“Or is he better going and getting a real taste of first team football? Time will tell.

“But it wouldn’t surprise me if Calum Osmand ended up at a Premiership team, maybe one of the ones in the bottom six, or who are likely going to be in the bottom six or a Championship team with real designs on promotion.”

Osmand, at just 19, has plenty of talent to develop in the first-team and, hopefully, he will get that time at another club and return to Celtic a much more rounded player.

With the Celtic striker role up for grabs right now, it’s far too early to put the youngster under that kind of pressure so if a loan deal can be brokered then Rodgers must ensure it happens before the transfer window closes.
