‘I swear’ – Billy Dodds gets testy over Celtic’s upcoming title win before Rangers face Aberdeen

Celtic could be crowned champions of Scotland by 2 pm this afternoon.

After Brendan Rodgers watched his Celtic team dismantle Kilmarnock, Rangers must now head to Aberdeen and avoid defeat if they are to ensure the Hoops must wait for a title party.

Rangers have been playing second-fiddle to Celtic all season, and despite winning the last two Glasgow Derbies, embarrassing defeats to Motherwell and St Mirren at Ibrox recently have meant that the Hoops still hold a commanding 16-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

So when asked if his Rangers side are fully focused on delaying Celtic’s title party with a win at Pittodrie, Billy Dodds sounded testy as he gave his answer.

Billy Dodds says ‘it’s important’ Rangers delay Celtic’s title party

When asked about making Celtic having to work to win the title with a Rangers win at Pittodrie, Dodds told The Herald, “Of course it’s important

“And we’re striving to do that. Come tomorrow, we’ll see what we’ve got for Aberdeen.

“I swear, all we’re concentrating on is Aberdeen, we’re not even looking at next Thursday. It would be naive, stupid to even look forward to Thursday.

“We are just looking at Aberdeen now. We need to go for it, whoever we play, whatever team we pick. We want to beat every team.

“There have been a couple of disappointments, so we know how that feels. Aberdeen, we’ve got to win.”

Why Celtic fans should brace themselves for a Parkhead title party today

Celtic fans are desperate to seal their fourth title in a row. Remarkably, this season’s title win will be the Hoops’ 13th out of the last 14 seasons.

And by all accounts, today’s title could be wrapped up without Celtic kicking a ball? Why? Because Rangers’ recent record has been nothing but shambolic.

Losing their last two home games against Hibs and Motherwell, the Ibrox club have shown that when the pressure is on, they really can’t handle it.

And now that they know they have a must-win game against Aberdeen at Pittodrie, the chances are Rangers will bottle it again against a Jimmy Thelin side who are unbeaten in five and who are unbeaten against the Ibrox club in their last three meetings at Pittodrie.

The odds of a title-party happening today are very strong. It’s little wonder Dodds sounded tetchy.
