Celtic is on course for more Champions League football next season when they wrap up the Scottish Premiership title.

Brendan Rodgers will need to negotiate a third-round qualifier to reach the group stages, but the Celtic manager will be confident of mixing it again with Europe’s elite.

There is also another former Celtic player who is confident of reaching the Champions League group stages next season and after being discarded by Rodgers, has sent his old gaffer a message.

Hyeongyu Oh wants to face Celtic in the Champions Leauge with Genk

Hyeongyu Oh left Celtic last summer for Genk, and since the,n the South Korean striker has been on fire.

The ex-Celtic striker scored a double as Genk thrashed Union Saint Gilloise at the weekend to go nine points clear at the top of the Belgian league and now Oh has his sights set on the Parkhead club.

Oh told the Daily Record: “It is great confidence to score double-digit points in Europe. Honestly, I don’t think I got many opportunities [at Celtic].

“It seems that what I have always done sincerely in any situation has led to good results.

“We are in the lead. If you win the league, you can play in the Champions League next season. I experienced the Champions League when I was at Celtic. However, I didn’t get many opportunities. If I go to the Champions League next season, I want to see Celtic.

“Not that I did well when I was at Celtic. I want to show Celtic ‘I’ve grown this much’. Especially at Celtic Park, Celtic’s home stadium, I want to prove my ability. That’s the biggest motivation for me.”

Hyeongyu Oh’s Celtic record vs Genk

Oh was a popular player amongst the fans during his time at Celtic, and many thought he wasn’t really given a fair crack of the whip.

However, with Kyogo Furuhashi lighting up Celtic Park with his goals, it’s not difficult to understand why the 23-year-old was Rodgers’ standby striker.

With almost a full season under his belt, 67 Hail Hail has decided to take a look at Oh’s record at Genk compared to how he fared in his two seasons in Paradise.

In 14 less games and in a year’s less time, Oh has matched his Celtic scoring record at his new club, proving that, if given time, he can be an effective striker but maybe it just wasn’t meant to be for him in Glasgow.
