Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has work to do regarding Greg Taylor’s future at the club amid his uncertain contract status.
The Scotland international could be free to discuss a pre-contract next month with non-English clubs as he hasn’t committed to fresh terms at Parkhead.
Greg Taylor’s expiring Celtic deal has generated plenty of conversations among supporters in recent months. On one hand, he is one of the most successful players in the Bhoys’ recent history with ten major trophies to his name, but he may also fancy a new challenge in his prime years.

Of course, rumours that the left-back picture under Brendan Rodgers could be about to change have hit fever pitch after Celtic’s interest in bringing Kieran Tierney back to Glasgow broke earlier this week.
With Taylor’s next move still to be clarified, Andy Walker has sent a clear verdict regarding how his old side should handle the ongoing predicament.
Andy Walker urges Celtic to tie down Greg Taylor
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, Walker believes Celtic should look to get ‘something sorted’ for Taylor as he is the best-left back on the books right now in his opinion.
He stated: “I like him and I know that, let’s say, the speculation we spoke about earlier with Kieran Tierney. If Kieran Tierney is fit and available and wants to come back to Celtic, he would play in front of Greg Taylor.
“I don’t think Valle is a better player than him. I think Greg Taylor has shown from those earlier years when he was playing in midfield, the amount of times I seen him play killer passes, passes that are really difficult and Greg Taylor plays them time and time again.
“I know he made a mistake last week which led to a goal, these things happen, but at this moment, I don’t see a better left-back at Celtic than Greg Taylor. If he wants to stay, then I hope he can get something sorted.”
What Brendan Rodgers has said about Greg Taylor’s contract
Yesterday, Brendan Rodgers reiterated his desire for Taylor to stay at Celtic, but acknowledged the challenges that may provoke seeing as any deal would be one of the last big contracts in his career.
He stated: “I would hope so; I think I’ve said it a number of times. He’s so important for our squad, Greg because when you want to build a squad, it’s never just about starters. It’s the whole squad.
“You want a depth to that, so he’s a player that I’ve really enjoyed working with so much on and off the pitch, and I’ve said it before, and I’ll repeat, I really want him to stay. I’m hoping that between the club and his representatives, we can organise a deal.”
In the end, the decision comes down to all parties involved in negotiations, most importantly the player. Taylor has the final say on what comes next in his career. Hopefully, that can be at Celtic.
