And the 23-year-old was loving being back at Celtic Park, enjoying the moment in front of a packed crowd.

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of the game, the winger perfectly summed up the joy of his strike and how important it was to start the season in a positive manner.

The former Portuguese under-21 internationalist also stated how grateful he was to be back at Parkhead on a permanent basis after completing his £6 million move this summer.

He said [Daily Record]: “I think it was everything, not just that moment. Just being part of this football club and the philosophy that runs now throughout the club,

“I’m just grateful for everything. It’s good to be back; it’s good to do the things I love the most, which is to play football.

“The most important thing for me was that we started on the right foot this season in the Scottish league, so now we have to keep working and be better in every game. We are not in last season; everything starts from zero now.

“Everyone has the same points, so we are not focusing on last season. We want to send a message to the league that we want to be strong in every game, and this team is hungry for more and more.”

Quality Jota strike showed exactly why Celtic were willing to pay big money for winger.

At 1-0, Celtic looked to be well on their way to three points on Sunday afternoon. However, with just a one-goal advantage, anything can happen in football.

To make sure that didn’t come back to bite us in the end, Jota produced a bit of magic to secure all three points with a quality strike from outside the area.

That moment from yesterday’s game showed exactly why Celtic was so keen to pay the money to see the ex-Benfica man remain at the club.

Jota is going to have another huge season on his hands, and after just one game, he is showing his qualities as a match winner once again.

The exciting thing is, there is no doubting that there is even more to come from the talented wide-man, who will continue his improvements as the season goes on.
