Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is enjoying a trophy-laden second spell at Parkhead.

Returning to Celtic in 2023, Rodgers showed great bravery to come back to the club considering the circumstances that surrounded his departure in 2019.

Fan opinion was split on Rodgers being given a second chance at Celtic but when he was, the Hoops boss vowed to win them over by continuing the Bhoys’ domestic success and improving the club’s fortunes in Europe.

And now that he has done both, it appears the majority of Celtic supporters have forgiven Rodgers for his 2019 exit after he recalled a fan banner that was displayed this season about him compared to when he left for Leicester City.

The Celtic fan banner vs Dundee United that ‘warms’ Brendan Rodgers’ heart

Celtic destroyed Dundee United at Tannadice to win the league which sparked great scenes of joy between the players, manager and the travelling Hoops support.

But it was a banner that the fans displayed of Rodgers smoking a cigar, that really caught the Celtic manager’s attention.

Rodgers told The Scottish Sun, “It’s better than it was a few years ago! It certainly warms the heart more than the banner at Tynecastle when I left.

“Listen, for every coach or manager, when you feel wanted or appreciated at a club, of course it gives you motivation and commitment to do even more for the club.

“Celtic have a fanatical support base and they deliver an expectation on you.

“I know what the supporters want and that gives me that drive to make them proud and be the best I can be.

“It warms the heart when you get that kind of support, but I’m not Michael Jordan . . . I’m not a smoker!”
