All the plaudits are reining in for Celtic after their fourth title win in a row.

The Parkhead club’s trophy cabinet continues to swell after Brendan Rodgers watched his Celtic team dismantle Dundee United in 90 minutes at Tannadice.

Celtic supporters travelled to Tayside in expectation knowing the Bhoys have won the title at Dundee United in no less than three previous occasions.

But as The Tangerines put up a spirited fight in the first half, Celtic’s power was just too much after Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn both fired in a double after Ryan Strain’s own goal opened up the floodgates.

Speaking after the match, United manager Jim Goodwin was clearly gutted at the result but still found it in himself to send Celtic a classy message after the Tannadice trouncing.

Jim Goodwin can’t believe Celtic’s ‘crazy’ win at Dundee United

Most Celtic fans will agree that United started the game brighter but didn’t really do anything with the possession they had.

Chasing third place, the Taysiders had plenty to play for but as the first-half wore on, Celtic’s quality shone through just before half-time to leave Goodwin gutted.

Goodwin told Sky Sports, “There’s never a good time to play Celtic, but when there’s so much on the line for them today. Yeah, they were really on it.

“I felt, it sounds crazy to stand here and and say that for the opening half an hour, I thought we were very good and forced Celtic into playing a lot of long balls, and we coped with most of that in the opening half an hour.

“I think the disappointing thing from our point of view is the first couple of goals. The first goal is an unfortunate own goal from a corner, and then the second goal comes from a positive attack from ourselves, a bit of a tame effort on goal, and within five seconds Celtic have got the ball in the back of our net, and then we’ve got a mountain to climb. “

Jim Goodwin’s ‘best team by country mile’ praise of Celtic

And as the Celtic celebrations at Tannadice continued, the Dundee United manager sent Brendan Rodgers a message for winning his fourth league title as the Hoops boss.

Goodwin continued, “I mean, look, I think at 2-0, we can probably manage the game a little bit better and get in at half time with the score line at two.

“But for them to get the third goal in the, I think the third or fourth minute of added on time in that first half, and then to score so quickly after half time, it’s damage limitation from that point on.

So, look, we’re bitterly disappointed as you would imagine. Congratulations to Brendan and to Celtic they’ve been the best team by a country mile this season, and they thoroughly deserve their their league title.”

For Celtic, Rangers are up next at Ibrox as Rodgers looks to avenge that disappointing Glasgow Derby defeat at Parkhead.

The icing on the cake for many fans would be to have another party at Ibrox and beat Rangers to continue to pile on the agony for Barry Ferguson and his trophyless team.
