Brendan Rodgers will be in the market to add another striker to the Celtic first team this summer.
After losing Celtic hero Kyogo Furuhashi to Rennes, the Hoops boss has seen the rise of Daizen Maeda as the Bhoys’ main goal threat this season.
However, Rodgers has been keen to stress he wants to sign another striker for Celtic and this summer could see another addition to the Hoops ranks.
However, Chris Sutton has suggested a Premier League-winning striker who Celtic could get for free and it got journalist, Ian Ladyman really excited.

Chris Sutton suggests Jamie Vardy to Celtic
Jamie Vardy is leaving Leicester City at the end of the season and appears that Sutton suggesting a move to Celtic, has Ladyman looking forward to a Glasgow Derby with the former England striker in the green and white Hoops.
Ladyman said on It’s All Kicking Off [40m 35s], “He’s already said and the brief from Vardy’s camp is that he doesn’t want to play in the Championship. So, you know, your options are pretty narrow there then, aren’t they?
“If you don’t want all of those things, if you don’t want Saudi, you don’t want the Championship, America might not be an option. You’ve got to ask yourself what your options are there.
“And maybe to me, maybe Jamie Vardy’s super sub might be a worthwhile roll of the dice for somebody.”
Sutton: “What about maybe north of the border, Celtic?”
Ladyman: “Absolutely. Imagine that. Imagine Jamie Vardy in the Old F-rm. That would be something.
Sutton: “Exactly.”
Ladyman: “That would be something, wouldn’t it? That would be worth watching. That’s a good shout.
“That’s a really, really good shout.”
Jamie Vardy’s goalscoring record at Leicester under Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers
Vardy has enjoyed a very successful career at Leicester City but under Rodgers, the former England striker really flourished.
Here is his record under the current Celtic boss in the four years Rodgers spent at the Premier League club.
| Jamie Vardy | Played | Goals | Assists |
| Season 2019/20 | 40 | 23 | 7 |
| Season 2020/21 | 42 | 17 | 10 |
| Season 2021/22 | 42 | 6 | 5 |
| Season 2022/23 | 37 | 20 | 2 |
Barring one season, Vardy had a successful career under Rodgers winning an FA Cup, Community Shield and winning the Premier League Golden Boot in 2020.
But that brings us to Celtic. Should the club pursue Vardy at this point in his career and the wages he is likely to command?
Rodgers would be best placed looking at a long-term replacement for Kyogo as the Leicester legend’s career nears its end.
