"Impossible to turn down"; Celtic midfielder Liam Shaw opens up on big move
Celtic-bound Liam Shaw has tweeted a statement to Sheffield Wednesday supporters.
The 19-year-old, whose move is being “investigated” according the Owls, offered a heartfelt message to supporters. Describing the move to Celtic as an “amazing opportunity”, Shaw communicated to supporters, saying:
“After discussing the options with my family, I have decided to take on a new challenge and so, I’ve agreed to join Celtic, one of the most famous and prestigious clubs in the world, on July 1.
“Until the last kick of the ball on the final game of this season, I will continue to give my all for Sheffield Wednesday and to help my team-mates.
“In the end, I based my decision purely on the football aspects. By joining Celtic next season I will fight for a place in a team challenging for titles, trophies and to play in Europe, which is something I’ve always dreamed of.
I am determined to play at the highest level I can possible achieve in my career. I thank Celtic for this amazing opportunity, which is impossible for me to turn down.”
Thank you to @swfc especially the fans. Until the last kick of the season I will give my all. SWFC will always be special for me. On July 1, I will join at @CelticFC – a move which is impossible for me to turn down. pic.twitter.com/CfFq9jwefe

A classy move from Liam Shaw ahead of Celtic move
Liam Shaw has a decent reputation amongst the Sheffield Wednesday support. His two red cards so far demonstrate a feistiness that could serve him well in Scotland.
Earlier today, Wednesday supporters responded as the club offered a thinly-veiled threat of legal action against Celtic. Generally speaking, the mood was one of antipathy. Owls fans were more concerned with the direction of the club.
Supporters of both clubs were quick to offer messages of support to the 19-year-old.
All the best lad. Hopefully see you back in the future when the club’s less of a mess 👍🔵⚪
