From his debut appearance at Ibrox in the 2-2 New Year Glasgow Derby, Alistair Johnston has never looked out of place in a Celtic jersey.
The Canadian international been an outstanding replacement for Josip Juranovic and after just 15 appearances for the club, the 24 year old has already become a firm fans favourite.
The man of the match in the 3-2 win over Rangers at Celtic Park has only further cemented his status within the squad but in true humble fashion, the right-back refuses to take all the credit for his performance.
Speaking to Celtic TV, Johnston said, “It was Celtic football for periods and it was chaos for periods. But at the end of the day, we came out with three points and we sent 60,000 fans at Celtic Park home happy and fans across the world. At the end of the day, that’s the most important thing.
“It was an enjoyable match and we never make it easy for ourselves sometimes but it’s one that no one will be forgetting any time soon.
“When you play with a guy like Jota on your wing in front then it makes it easier, or when Cameron is covering your shoulder and Callum is inside, they make my life easy. They make me look like a much better player than I am and I’m lucky and fortunate to be part of this system and play at this club.”
Johnston really has taken the club to his heart and his comments really do show the mark of a man who would rather his teammates get the credit for his performances than take the limelight for himself.
But we are not daft, we know a quality player when we see one and the defender has proven time and again this season that he worthy of all the accolades that have come his way.
