What a blockbuster 12 hours this has been.
Celtic have gone from preparing for a routine midweek fixture against Falkirk to dealing with the bombshell resignation of Brendan Rodgers.
While tension behind the scenes at Celtic Park was no secret, Rodgers appeared to be more than happy to see out the length of his contract, as he had promised.
Instead, the tensions were clearly at a breaking point. Desmond’s scathing statement is an all-out attack on Rodgers, which leaves absolutely no doubt over the current state of their relationship.
But what about Rodgers’ side of the story? One story from Tuesday morning has revealed some eye-opening details about his final day as Hoops boss.
Brendan Rodgers final day at Celtic details revealed
Rodgers was announced to have departed at just after 8PM on Monday evening.
In the same statement which announced his departure, Celtic also announced the stunning news that Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney would be taking immediate charge of first-team duties.

Keith Jackson has now revealed some more details of his final day. He took training in the morning as usual, whilst O’Neill was tipping Hearts for the title on the radio.
On an incredible day in the club’s modern history, the report in the Daily Record reveals some incredible aspects to the story.
It said: “Only an hour or so earlier than the news broke that Brendan Rodgers had walked away from Celtic for a second time, he was still going about his business as if nothing at all had changed.
“Rodgers was still exchanging text messages and giving absolutely no indication that he was writing a letter of resignation at the same time.
“This really is an extraordinary situation made even more curious by the fact that, assuming Rodgers was fully aware it was about to fall out of the night sky above Glasgow, he was acting as if it was just another long day at the office.
“And these days have been getting longer. In fact, the last 10 months have felt like a constant drain on his levels of enthusiasm for the job.”
Rodgers had made bullish claims about his motivation to keep going, but they haven’t taken long to age like milk.
An extraordinary week for Celtic
O’Neill and Maloney must immediately deal with Wednesday’s Falkirk fixture. But after that on Sunday, there is the small matter of a Premier Sports Cup semi-final against Rangers.
John Kennedy was seen as a likely candidate to replace Rodgers when he left – but after 26 years at Celtic, he has followed the Northern Irishman out the door in an incredible move.
It’s a fantastic opportunity for O’Neill to return the dugout over 20 years after he left Glasgow in 2005. Having said that, it’s still far from ideal.
There is just so much to unpack over the coming days.
