Inside Celtic training: Ange observes youngsters, Ajeti joins the fray, Strachan's big message
Celtic have published another one of their Lennoxtown Unfiltered videos for Celtic TV subscribers, giving more insight into the early goings-on of pre-season.
Ange Postecoglou, as is normal, rarely directly intervenes in the individual sessions, preferring to delegate work to his first-team coaching staff.
However, the Australian could be seen closely observing the entire situation as the group of non-international players and youngsters took part in a number of rain-soaked activities.
More players look to have joined the group since Monday’s media uploads too. Most notably Albian Ajeti was back in action despite the fact he’s facing an uncertain future at the Bhoys. He hadn’t been seen in any of the images on day one.
Elsewhere, young full-back duo Josh Dede and Matthew Anderson were spotted as additions, joining other Celtic B talents such as Ben Summers, Rocco Vata and Bosun Lawal in being put through their faces alongside senior stars such as Reo Hatate.
Celtic publish the footage raw, by which I mean without background music or other distractions, meaning you can get a sense of what is being said by the players and the coaches.
One key instruction came from Gavin Strachan when doing some attacking drills, with the coach telling the players: “Minimal touches, strong runs. You’ll see on that last attack, when Mikey Johnston broke through on that side, the message we want to get across to you is on the opposite side you’re still involved.
“So Mikey, he might be breaking through, we don’t just go ‘oh we leave him to it’, we spring to the opposite side, Mikey can cross it back and we get a goal.”
It’s very much in keeping with some of the football we witnessed under Postecoglou last season when the late runs of players such as Liel Abada led to many excellent opportunities in the opposition box.
Hopefully, the club keep these uploads going, I find them entertaining and it gives everyone a sense of the mood and work ethic ongoing at the training centre.
Nothing earth-shattering is revealed, but it keeps us all in touch with the team ahead of their big pre-season trip to Austria next week.
