Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou will always be held in high regard by Celtic supporters.

Sure, how Postecoglou left for Spurs at the end of a treble-winning season will still rankle with some fans but over the piece of his two-year reign at the club, the Australian was loved and respected by all Hoops supporters.

Winning five trophies from six, Postecoglou rebuilt a flailing Celtic team and club who were still reeling from the fateful COVID season where there was no silverware won.

Now under pressure at Spurs, a report from the Daily Telegraph has made a claim about Postecoglou as the former Celtic boss prepares for a Europa League semi-final against Bodo/Glimt.

Ex-Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou ‘likely’ to leave Spurs despite Europa League success

The Daily Telegraph reports that Ange Postecoglou is likely to leave Tottenham regardless of whether or not they win the Europa League.

The report claims, “That [winning the Europa League] may yet save him from the sack, but there is a growing sense that Postecoglou is likely to leave Tottenham at the end of the season, regardless of the outcome of the Europa League campaign, either through being dismissed or a mutual parting.”

If anything, Postecoglou is likely to walk before he is pushed but the report has caused a stir amongst the fans of the Premier League strugglers.

Spurs fans’ mixed feelings on Celtic hero Ange Postecoglou’s potential exit

There is no doubt Postecoglou’s relationship with Spurs fans is fractious at best, but it seems that if we walks away or is pushed from the club after winning a European trophy has split the opinion of the fans now.

One fan said, “If you look at his CV he has been successful at all the clubs he has been at, but the Premier League is elite football.

“But things that come with that is the UK media and fans expectation. Spurs have always been difficult for any manager. The club is wrong for him simple.”

Another Spurs fan said, “Jose was sacked one week before a cup final. Conte got us to Champions League & was sacked just weeks before the end of the following season.

“Levy doesn’t care about cups, otherwise he’d have sacked Ange Posteocoglou already. Little chance of him winning the Europa League on current form.”

One Spurs fan added, “If we win it, keep him and the board need to properly back him, listen to what signings he wants, sign them, throw whatever money it takes to get him the player, give him a great summer and then one season.”

And another Tottenham supporter added, “It’s so blindingly obvious to all that he’ll either resign or leave by mutual consent regardless of the Europa League result.

“He’s obviously sick of the press, sick of the scruitny, and – whilst he’ll never admit this – can’t hack it at the very top level. Fascinated to see where he ends up!”

Can’t say the last part of that statement is true considering Postecoglou’s success at Celtic and international level with Australia.

But what is factual is that Spurs don’t deserve Postecoglou and the problems at the club run deeper than who the manager is.

One thing we can all agree on is that if Ange does leave Spurs, Celtic fans will continue to follow his career to see what success he can bring to another club.
