Celtic defender, Liam Scales, has opened up on the ‘carnage’ of the League Cup final win over Rangers on Sunday.
The Hoops stopper is currently at the centre of the Rangers penalty controversy after Scales was initially adjudged to have fouled Ibrox midfielder Vaclav Cerny outside the penalty box.
However, the ensuing inquiry and rather public media meltdown over the affair has came to the conclusion that the foul by the Celtic defender was made inside the Rangers box and a ‘clear’ penalty kick was denied the Ibrox club.
But that’s not what Scales reckons was the ‘mad’ part of the final as the Celtic defender opened up on how he really feels about the penalty win over Rangers the Ibrox club.
Liam Scales praises Celtic’s determination to beat Rangers at Hampden
Scales told The Herald, “It was mad. It’s always hard to control games, you know, cup finals at Hampden.
“It was similar to the Aberdeen one we had last year. Just carnage. Both teams attacked, both teams were on the front foot.
“It was probably a good game for neutral. There wasn’t probably as much quality as we would have liked from us, but we got over the line in the end.
“I think that shows, you know. It’s almost like the win feels better when you’ve not played quite so well. We still got over the line.”
Liam Scales reveals what made Celtic’s win over Rangers ‘sweeter’
“It was unbelievable,” continued Scales, “The way it finished, I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way, you know. To go and win on penalties makes it that little bit sweeter. I’m delighted.

“There was a lot on the line. Obviously, it’s the first trophy available to us this year and we desperately wanted it.
“So, we were really, really, really wanting to win the game and I think all the lads did brilliantly.”
The game was packed with excitement, goals and had a a little bit of controversy thrown into the mix to make Celtic’s win over Rangers that little bit more memorable.
Now that the first piece of silverware has been tucked into the Celtic Park trophy room, the Bhoys can now look forward to resuming league duty against Dundee United on Sunday to try and extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
