Kasper Schmeichel has been an absolute hero since signing for Celtic back in the summer of 2024.
The Denmark goalkeeper was a key part of Brendan Rodgers’ double-winning squad and Celtic’s impressive Champions League campaign last season.
Schmeichel’s arrival at Celtic also brought with it coverage from media outlets like CBS due to his dad, Peter’s job as a pitch-side reporter/pundit.
And here, the Man United and Denmark legend shares what he’s enjoying being called since Kasper joined Celtic two summers ago.

Peter Schmeichel’s new nickname since Kasper joined Celtic
Peter Schmeichel is a living legend not just at Man United, but across world football. And whilst his legendary status will never die, it appears that his name has changed since Kasper’s arrival at Celtic.
And after he was introduced on a podcast as ‘Kasper’s dad’, Peter Schmeichel revealed how he’s loved being called that since his son signed for Celtic.
Schmeichel told Sacked In The Morning [7m], “What a great introduction. It’s funny you should say that because it has moved over to that. I have, in the last couple of years, been known as Kasper’s dad, which is not bad, is it?
“There’s never really any time to enjoy what you’ve done. But of course, having a son in there, he’s doing all the hard work.
“All I have to do is watch. And you get time to really enjoy that. And I have to say, when he was on that pitch at Leicester, when they got the Premier League trophy presented to them, that was, as a father, a fantastic moment, an absolutely incredible moment.
“Kasper’s been with me on the pitch. I’ve lifted the trophy. He has been photographed with it so many times.
“And all of a sudden, our roles are reversed. And it was brilliant. It was a fantastic day.”
Celtic hero Kasper Schmeichel’s successes vs Peter Schmeichel
Kasper Schmeichel has carved his own career and is known as a goalkeeper in his own right which is a tough thing to do living in his dad’s shadow.
Here is how both Schmeichels’ successes stack up:
- Peter Schmeichel: 5 x Premier League titles, 3 x FA Cup wins, 1 x League Cup, 4 x Charity Shields, 1 x Champions League, 1 x UEFA Super Cup
- Kasper Schmeichel: 1 x Scottish Premier League, 1 x Scottish League Cup, 1 x English Premier League, 1 x FA Cup, 1 x Community Shield, 1 x English Championship, 1 x League Two title
Varying degrees of success for both players who played at the highest level, it’s clear that Peter is proud of his son’s success, especially since he moved to Celtic.
