“It’s going to be colossal”; Michael Stewart delivers verdict on changes coming to Celtic soon

Michael Stewart has been speaking about the massive changes on their way to Celtic. It appears no-one is safe when it comes to an exit.

We already know Peter Lawwell will make way for Dominic McKay.

However, Stewart reckons there will be as much change in the dressing room as the board room.

The coaching staff and our underperforming players are all fair game for the axe, says the BBC pundit.

Writing in his Scottish Sun column, Stewart explained: “Forget the fact the Hoops have won three games in a row. This resurgence has a hollow feel to it Change is coming at Parkhead. And it’s going to be colossal.

“Off the field, Peter Lawwell has already confirmed he will be leaving in the summer. The odds suggest Neil Lennon will also be on his way out the exit door. Should that happen you would have to think the majority of this group of players will join them.

“Let me make this clear, that’s not because this squad needs a big overhaul. It’s still a very good squad. But given everything that has gone on, it looks more likely that major overhaul is going to happen anyway.

“Players are disillusioned, they are clearly beginning to look elsewhere. It will only be guys like Turnbull, with such a bright future ahead of him, who will be sticking around.”

Celtic changes should be exciting for supporters

I get there’s a lot to feel unhappy about at Celtic right now. The season is effectively over. The football is still largely stale despite an uptick in form.

However, we have to be optimistic about the future. There’ll be a new man in as CEO, there could be a new manager. It’s a bright new dawn at Celtic despite this hellish season.

Let’s be honest, we’ve had our fair share of good ones in recent years. Talent will remain at the club that can get us back to those standards, with a bit of outside help.

Questions will remain about the long-term ownership of the club, sure. But those issues can be discussed and organised on through the support while the football department gets on with its business.

Excitement can exist at the same time as a rancour.
