Kieran Tierney has shared his favourite derby match during his years as a Celtic left-back, speaking to Si Ferry’s Open Goal YouTube channel on Wednesday.

Tierney enjoyed playing in some amazing games against the Ibrox team, ruining their hopes of winning any trophies following promotion to the Scottish Premiership.

The one that stands out most is a match that Tierney thinks is underrated, compared to some of the other lauded occasions.

He told Open Goal: “The most underrated game in the world for me is when we beat them 5-0 to win the league, that’s not talked about enough.

“That’s the best dream ever. Then we got a flight to Tenerife after it. A private jet, the club had organised it. It was unbelievable, the best.”

That was back in April 2018 at Celtic Park when Odsonne Edouard scored a double, with Tom Rogic, James Forrest and Callum McGregor also on the scoresheet.

It was one of many hammerings dished out to our Glasgow rivals during the Brendan Rodgers-era.

The first 5-1 victory over them, the famous Moussa Dembele hat-trick game, is often cited as supporters’ favourite, or the 2017 5-1 result against them at Ibrox, where they were humiliated in front of their fans.

Tasting title success at their expense though, in such stylish fashion, is hard to argue with and it’s easy to see why Tierney has picked that one as his favourite.

That he got to enjoy a paid-for trip abroad with his teammates surely only adds to the good memories.

Tierney’s interview on Open Goal is worth watching in its entirety, with the player going into a number of Celtic-related topics.

We discussed earlier that he has shared a story about how Ronny Deila saved his career at Paradise.

In other news, Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic is on the verge of leaving the club in a £4m deal.
