Kawasaki Frontale manager Toru Oniki has stated that Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is the sort of manager that other coaches should aim to replicate.

Postecoglou has enjoyed spells at clubs and international sides across the globe, including his time in Japan with Yokohama F Marinos.

During his time in Asia, he came up against Oniki’s successful Kawasaki Frontale side, who have won four out of the last five league titles in the J-League.

The one exception was the year Postecoglou delivered the title for Yokohama, securing the championship for the first time since 2005.

Speaking in an interview with Australian media outlet Keep Up, Oniki spoke with high praise for Postecoglou and his impact on Japanese Football and abroad, insisting that he is a coach people ‘aim for’ when trying to replicate his success.

The four-time title-winning boss said: “As a leader, I think he is one of the coaches who is a goal and a guideline to aim for.

“I think he is a successful coach who has achieved results in the J.League and has been attracting attention overseas.

“He is playing attractive football overseas.”

Postecoglou’s success has carried to almost every club he has been in charge of

At this point last year, hardly any Celtic fans would have been able to tell you a single thing about Ange Postecoglou.

Advance 12 months and the supporters cannot get enough of the former Socceroos boss.

Looking at Postecoglou’s record, not only at Celtic but in Japan, Australia and time with the national team in his homeland, he has carried success wherever he has gone.

There is a reason for that, and it is because the 56-year old is a top-class coach who many managers should be watching to learn all about the game.

Not only is he successful, but he is well-respected by his opponents in each country he has had a spell in, like Toru Oniki over in Japan.

There is just so much to love about having Ange at the club, and long may it continue heading into his second season in charge over the next few months!
