Former Celtic defender and assistant manager Johan Mjallby has urged the Hoops ‘not to stand still’ when preparing for next season this summer.
The club enjoyed a successful campaign in 2021/22, with Ange Postecoglou delivering a league and cup double during his first year in charge.
Not many pundits or fans would have expected to see Celtic in this position this time last year. However, the brilliant recruitment by Postecoglou allowed the club to improve as the season went on.

Celtic will now be looking to build on the success of Postecoglou and his side going into 2022/23, with the added bonus of Champions League group stage football.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Mjallby expressed his delight at seeing the success of the club last season after a campaign of struggles the year before.
However, the 51-year also insisted that the Bhoys cannot afford to stand still and must build from a position of strength this summer.
He told Sky Sports: “It was a 100 per cent success last season. I don’t think many supporters thought at the start of the season that things would turn out this great. The transformation has been fantastic, so to be sitting with two trophies in the cabinet and being in the Champions League is a wonderful place to be.
“It’s looking great for the club right now. It’s very important not to stand still. I’m sure they are working very hard to try and strengthen the team and find the right type of players the manager wants.
“Last season was Ange’s first in charge and he will want to show the supporters and the club that the team will improve even more.
“Especially in Europe, they have to do better. They were a bit naive last season and they have to do better this year. I’m sure they are working on trying to make Celtic 2022/23 even more powerful and stronger than last season.”

It is crucial that club fully back Postecoglou going into next season; lessons must be learned
Domestic success is undoubtedly something the club have enjoyed over the last decade.
However, we have seen examples over the years of failing to build from a position of strength, particularly when it comes to European Football.
So, those lessons must be learned heading into this summer.
Mjallby’s message is absolutely spot on, and Ange Postecoglou must be backed fully in order to achieve even more success next season.
The Celtic manager has more than earned the club’s trust when it comes to player recruitment, and in the early stages of the transfer window there’s little doubt he will be keen to add talent to his squad.
