Celtic’s Jack Hendry recently left the club to join Melbourne City on-loan for the rest of the season.

Hendry had played only one game for the Hoops so far in 2019-20. A move seemed like a chance for the player to get some regular playing time.

However, despite being behind the likes of Jozo Simunovic, Christopher Jullien and Kristoffer Ajer in the centre-back pecking order at the club, Hendry is convinced he still has a future at the Hoops.

“I still feel I can have a future at Celtic. I love playing for Celtic, and they are a massive club” he said, as reported by the Daily Record.

“Can still become a first-team regular”

“I still have a couple of years left on my contract there and I feel I can still become a first-team regular at Celtic but for just now I just need to go out get games and to get back playing the way I know I can – to the level that convinced Celtic to go out and buy me from Dundee in the first place.”

Hendry’s comments are certainly laudable, and it is good to see that he believes that he still has a future with Celtic.

One way that he could save his Hoops career is by impressing in Australia, and so far that seems to have gone well for the player.

His performance in a 0-0 draw on his debut against Perth Glory was rated highly by some Melbourne City fans.

Neil Lennon will no doubt be taking an interest in how the player performs over in Australia. If he can perform well for Melbourne City, he could still have a future with Celtic.

It is intriguing to hear the player reveal that he loves playing for Celtic. It is good to see that his lack of playing time for the club has not dampened his enthusiasm for the Hoops.

Hendry might still save his Hoops career, how he fares for Melbourne City will play a large part in deciding that.
