Jackie McNamara has praised Celtic defender, Cameron Carter-Vickers today and has said that he believes the US international is one of the best defenders he’s seen at the club.
McNamara was part of the 2003 Seville team that played with the likes of Bobo Balde and John Mjallby and the former Celtic captain has said that Carter-Vickers is up there with the likes of the UEFA Cup heroes.
Speaking about Carter-Vickers, McNamara said [The Herald], “He’s strong and has a lot of attributes.
“He’s been a terrific signing.

“Yeah (he’s up there with some of the best) – although he’s not quite the same kind of player as Bobo! I played with some cracking centre-backs over the years – Johan Mjallby and Mark Rieper.
“Carter-Vickers has definitely been one who has been an excellent signing. He’s very steady and consistent.
“He can definitely play, as well. And with the way Ange sets his team up, he wants everybody to be able to play, including the goalie.
“He’s been a great addition.”
Cameron Carter-Vickers could be set for surgery after the Scottish Cup semi-final tie against Rangers this month.
With a treble in Celtic’s sights, the US defender has been pivotal to the team’s successes so far this season.

Carter-Vickers has been a mainstay at the heart of the Celtic defence.
The 25-year-old has made 37 appearances for Celtic this season and stepped up when covering the captaincy role when Callum McGregor was out injured. [Transfermarkt]
The fact that the club are waiting until after the Rangers game to go ahead with any possible treatment proves just how highly regarded the 25 year old is by Ange Postecoglou.
