James Forrest has shared what he plans to do when he eventually hangs up his playing boots for Celtic.

Forrest has been at Celtic for over 21 years and has never left the club in all that time. Not to even go on loan.

With over 500 appearances, over 100 goals and assists and 23 winners medals to his name, Forrest’s worth to Celtic goes way beyond a monetary value.

But as with everything in life, nothing lasts forever and, eventually, Forrest will need to call time on his Celtic career at some point.

So when he eventually does, what does the Celtic winger plan on doing with his time? Here, Forrest shares what he ‘definitely’ wants to do.

James Forrest wants football love affair to continue but will it be with Celtic?

At 33, Forrest still has a couple of years left in him to offer Celtic. Which is why the club has decided to tie him in for another year.

But after that year is over, what next for the legendary winger?

Forrest told Celtic TV, “I’d maybe thought about that a wee bit more before.

“I definitely would like to be involved somewhere in football, but I’ll see what happens when I finish.

“I think it will be difficult because it’s what you’ve done since you were a wee guy. You love playing, you love training, being part of your squad, with the players and staff and that as well, so it will be difficult. But I think I want to stay in football in some capacity.

“I know it’s going to come maybe in the next couple of years but, as I said, I’ll just keep working hard off the park and on the training pitch and then when I get a chance to play as well.”

James Forrest shares an immediate Celtic ambition

For now, though, Forrest has one thing and one thing only on his mind and that is to continue being successful with Celtic.

With Aberdeen up next and another three Champions League fixtures to go, the former Scotland attacker just wants to concentrate on what’s happening this season under Brendan Rodgers.

“When you’re playing with Celtic, you’re involved in the Champions League, cups, for the league — there’s so many big games and I just want to take it all in and do as much as I can.

“I just need to make sure that any chance I get to play and contribute to the team, to make sure I’m enjoying it because, as I say, I’m not going to play forever.

“I want to just give everything I’ve got to Celtic and see what happens.”

The Hoops winger still has a League Cup final to win against Rangers to look forward to as well as looking to progress in Europe and defend the Scottish Premiership title.

If he can do that, Forrest will become the most decorated Celtic player of all time and will, quite rightly, be spoken about as a legend at the club.
