Brendan Rodgers was a busy man in the final few days of the transfer window as he added another three new faces to his squad on transfer deadline day.
The late signing of Luke McCowan preceded the additions of Auston Trusty and Arne Engels on deadline day.
And with Rodgers also signing Viljami Sinisalo, Kasper Schmeichel, Paulo Bernardo, Alex Valle and Adam Idah earlier in the summer the Celtic fans seem fairly happy with the work the Hoops boss did to strengthen the team.
Already the supporters have seen the immediate impact of Schmeichel, Bernardo, Engels and McCowan with Trusty and Idah showing what they can do in fleeting cameos so far with only Sinisalo yet to make his debut.
And it seems that all signings are impressing Celtic hero, James Forrest, as he delivers his verdict on what the new faces have brought to the club since their summer arrival.
Forrest hails new signings ‘impact’ at Celtic
Forrest has proven that he still has a role to play at Celtic after his performances against Hearts and Slovan Bratislava but the winger has been impressed with the impact the new players have already made.
Forrest told the Daily Record, “Aye, I think the manager has recruited well.
“He’s always talked about quality over quantity and he’s definitely got that now. You can see the players he’s signed have already made an impact.
“That’s great for the players who were already here. It’s good when players come in and really freshen it up. That’s what’s happened so far.”
Forrest wants to extend his Celtic stay
Forrest’s contract expires at the end of this season and now 33, the Celtic winger says he still has much to offer and wants to extend his stay at the club.
Forrest continued, “For myself, the end of last season was really good, I really enjoyed my football. And I’ve enjoyed the start of this one as well.
“Obviously, I’m getting older but I feel I’ve still got a part to play and I love it here. Being at Celtic, such a massive club – I’ve been here my whole career.

“I’d love to stay on and that will maybe come into the discussion at some point.”
James Forrest made his 500th appearance for Celtic this season as the one-club man reached a milestone at the club many players can only dream of.
One of Celtic’s most decorated players of all time, Forrest’s experience made a huge impact on Celtic’s season last year as he dragged the club to a league and cup double.
Forrest has proven to be an important squad player this season and does deserve an extended deal and hopefully, that is something that Brendan Rodgers will sort out sooner rather than later.
