In what had to be the most left-field Celtic story of the weekend, the news that Snoop Dogg wants to invest in the Parkhead club has to be up there with the best of them.

67 Hail Hail discussed yesterday that Snoop Doog cited the Celtic fans as one of the reasons he wants to get involved in the club.

As one of the biggest rap stars in the world Snoop is said to have a personal wealth in excess of £120m so does have plenty of cash reserves he can plough into Celtic if he really wanted to.

Reacting to the news, Jeff Stelling and Den Saunders questioned the rap superstar’s motives and even doubted Snoop Dogg’s credentials as a true Celtic fan.

Jeff Stelling ‘loves’ what Snoop Dogg said about Celtic

Stelling said on talkSPORT, “Snoop in the news this morning because he says he is ready to invest in Celtic after being inspired by his Hollywood pals Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who, of course, bought Wrexham.

“He says he would be mad not the concert of putting cash into his favourite club, and he’d even be happy to take on the mascot duties, I love that, his favourite club.

Saunders: “Has he got a few quid, Snoop? He must have. I think he’s probably caked in money and he’s going to need it.”

Stelling: “Do you think he’s a Celtic fan?”

Saunders: “No. Do you know what as well? There are a few reasons why you buy a football club. One is because you like Football Manager, and you’ve got that much money that you think, ‘Why don’t I buy a real club? And I can pick the team and I can do tactics’ and then you realize you’ve got a manager, so you have to sack him.

“Or ego, to say you own a football club, or you’re trying to make money or lose money, in some cases. So what’s his motive?”

Snoop Dogg’s long association with Celtic

Snoop has never hidden his love Celtic. The American has been pictured in the green and white Hoops and even sent the club a message after winning the league in 2022.

Snoop once promised to ‘fly over’ to Celtic for a party if Ange Postecoglou won the league that season and, as yet, it’s not known if that actually happened.

One thing is for sure, Snoop is a Celtic fan, that cannot be questioned. Whether he really intends to invest a substantial mount of his personal wealth into the club is another thing entirely.
