The spotlight of scrutiny on Wilfried Nancy is intensifying after Celtic’s defeat to St Mirren in the Premier Sports Cup final.
The Celtic boss had a chance to get the critics off his back if Nancy led the Hoops to glory at Hampden but the Frenchman, and the team, blew it.
Celtic’s defeat to St Mirren has now shifted the anger from the board directly onto Nancy after the Hoops boss led the team to their third defeat in a row.
And now, even Jeff Stelling is questioning the Celtic manager after hearing what Nancy told his talkSPORT colleague about the Premier Sports Cup final defeat at Hampden.

What Wilfried Nancy said to talkSPORT about Celtic’s defeat vs St Mirren
The Celtic boss has already sent the fans a message after the defeat by telling them that he and the team ‘can do better’ than what they witnessed during the final.
However, Stelling is unconvinced about the Hoops boss after what Nancy told talkSPORT about the sore Hampden loss.
Nancy told talkSPORT, “Painful, the result, especially for the players, for the fans and for the club. We are in control of the game, regarding the way we penetrated the box, and I liked also the structure that we had regarding the way we attack.
“We were able to attack from the side, we were able to attack through the middle. So this is the direction. So this is exactly something that I want them to do again.
“Second goal that we conceded, this is a bit some this is something that concerned me, because we were in control of the game.
“We know that they can be good on the counterattack, but we did kind of, ping-pong. You know, we have the ball, we lost the ball, we had the ball.
“And this is this moment that I want my players to be more confident, to have more belief in themselves.”
Jeff Stelling mystified by Celtic boss Wilfried Nancy’s cup final verdict
Reacting to that interview, Stelling said that ‘one line’ from the Celtic boss left him utterly confused.
Stelling said, “Just take one line from that little interview with David Tanner there, ‘I liked the structure we had’.
“You just lost 3-1. How can you like the structure you had?
Is this the end for Wilfried Nancy?
“I mean, we’re looking in from the outside. Fans booed them during and after that League Cup final.
“The hierarchy as well. But how long does he get? Because it’s a job that demands instant success.”
It’s fair to say that it’s not just Stelling who is questioning Nancy now as there is a sizable number of Celtic supporters now calling for the Frenchman to go after the latest shambolic performance.
