Brendan Rodgers is in an intense situation with the Celtic board.
Despite his previous assurances that there is no trouble in their relationship, worrying stories were leaked to the media that this is not really the case.
Rodgers’ public comments have often been micro-analysed, with much speculation surrounding his contract situation.
One thing which is absolutely clear is the fact that his transfer demands – which were reiterated publicly – were not met.
For one former SPFL manager, Rodgers is not to blame for the failures of the summer transfer window.
Jim Duffy says it’s up to the Celtic board to get transfer work done
Celtic’s failure to bring enough reinforcements through the door in the summer transfer window left them scrambling on Deadline Day and eventually signing Kelechi Iheanacho after the deadline.

For Jim Duffy, the finger should be pointed at the Hoops board for their ongoing recruitment struggles.
Speaking on Clyde Superscoreboard, Duffy said: “A lot of that work should’ve been done well in advance. It just seemed to me that the manager was getting unbelievably frustrated by it.
“When you’re a manager and you’re desperate to get in players and you don’t, at the end of the day you don’t pay the wages. You can’t pay the transfer fees.
“It’s up to the board to do that. So you’re relying on your board, your recruitment or whatever it is, to get those deals over the line.”
Things will need to change, regardless of whether Rodgers stays beyond his final season – though this is looking incredibly less likely.
Is there any chance of Brendan Rodgers extending his Celtic contract?
Rodgers held talks with Parkhead higher-ups about his contract situation already this year.
The Hoops boss has said that he is not the man for the job unless the club wants to move forward in its ambitions, comments which have received much coverage.
Given the circumstances Rodgers is working under, it’s impossible to see him extending unless things change – something which is out of his control.
There is no doubt that Rodgers has a desire to take Celtic to the next level – the issue is whether it is matched by others in the building.
