Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin has spoken today ahead of his side’s much-anticipated Scottish Premiership tussle with Celtic tomorrow.

The Bhoys come into this one on a ten-match domestic winning run. Meanwhile, the visitors have also taken maximum points from their opening seven league encounters.

Both sides have a chance to gain some early momentum in the Scottish Premiership race, with the clash at Celtic Park representing the first real chance for either team to land a decisive blow at this stage.

With that said, Aberdeen boss Thelin has offered an insight regarding where the visitors position themselves in comparison with the reigning champions.

Jimmy Thelin on the prospect of challenging Celtic

Speaking earlier today, Thelin refused to be drawn into questions surrounding Aberdeen’s potential to challenge Celtic this season, instead claiming his side are taking steps on a weekly basis.

He stated [Sky Sports]: “Way too early, we’ve played seven games. It’s the eighth game tomorrow and it’s October, until May,  a lot of things can happen.

“Nothing has changed in how we think about everything. We have a long-term project, and this season will go game-by-game. We’ll try to be better, and we’ll try to create a clear identity, how we train, how we compete, and the team spirit.

“We are right now on a good track, but still, we have to improve a lot of things and stay humble (with) a lot of effort, then we need to try and then try again, that’s where we are right now.”

Celtic have victory in their sights against Aberdeen

Taking three points tomorrow would put Celtic in a strong position as they look to retain the Scottish Premiership title for a fourth time in succession.

However, Rodgers and company will be aware of the levels they need to get to against Aberdeen. The Dons have put up a compelling fight this season and deserve to be where they are in the table.

Once again, the Irishman will need to rely on his dressing room core to see Celtic through the other side, with a chance to take the initiative at the summit an opportunity that is too good to pass up on paper.

Hopefully, the Bhoys can put in a commanding performance tomorrow in front of a capacity home crowd, sealing three points in their first test since the international break.
