Celtic and Aberdeen remain level on points after a dramatic Sunday of Scottish Premiership action set the scene beautifully for their first clash after the international break.

The Bhoys left it late to see off Ross County on Sunday, with Nicolas Kuhn’s winner three minutes from time putting the seal on an important victory after a difficult week after events in Dortmund.

On similar lines, Aberdeen struck two minutes from time to beat Hearts via Ante Palaversa’s strike from close range, extending their impressive winning run to seven in a row alongside the Scottish Premiership champions.

By virtue of goal difference, Celtic remain at the league summit heading into the blockbuster contest against the Dons on October 19th, which could help to shape the make-up of a campaign that is becoming more compelling by the week.

Despite the international break taking precedence, for now, Jimmy Thelin has given an insight into how Aberdeen are feeling ahead of facing Celtic in under two weeks.

Speaking to The Daily Record, Thelin has revealed how Aberdeen are feeling in the lead-up to their clash at Celtic Park and also outlined how they will approach the affair.

He stated: “Celtic are good, but we have to prepare ourselves and we usually respect every opponent and of course you see how they play at home and these kinds of things.

“But we have to prepare ourselves and try to have a really good performance and get a good result. So we don’t change our preparations or the way we work and then we’re going to reload and prepare for that game.”

“Yeah, I’m going to focus on that a little bit further down the line, but now today. Like I told you, we’re going to relax today, and then we’re going to prepare ourselves for this game.

Celtic have the mentality to handle Aberdeen threat

Admittedly, many Scottish football fans will have been taken aback by Aberdeen’s start following their showing last campaign. However, they are a strong force and should be respected.

Nevertheless, Celtic showed the other side of their game against Ross County yesterday, grinding out a result in tough circumstances when the pressure was on Brendan Rodgers’ men to deliver. That has taken them up to seven consecutive domestic wins; there is no question of mentality this side of the city.

Post-match, Rodgers hailed the Bhoys’ resilience against Ross County after having to dig deep amid a difficult day in Dingwall. He stated: “We looked at it at half-time, pointed out a couple of little moments and in the second half, we were very, very good. Especially with the introduction of the players coming in, giving us that new energy in the game.

“There are no easy games. What I have to commend the players for is the mentality they showed in the second half to keep going. I’m really pleased for them.”

Celtic’s message is loud and clear; they are the champions and challenge anyone to knock them off their pedestal. When Aberdeen come to town, there is set to be fireworks in Glasgow’s east end.
