Most of the chat about Celtic’s clash with Aberdeen was centred around how the two teams were in good unbeaten form before the League Cup semi-final clash at Hampden on Saturday.
Aberdeen earned a 2-2 draw at Celtic Park and deserved their point after battling back from being 2-0 down in the first half.
The plaudits the Pittodrie club got for that result, again, were deserved as not many teams have come to Celtic Park and did what Jimmy Thelin’s side had done in recent years.
However, it seems that Aberdeen legend, Joe Harper, might have gotten a wee bit carried away with how his team are doing in the league after he made a bizarre claim about Celtic prior to the big Hampden kick-off on Saturday.
Joe Harper claims Celtic were ‘worried’ about Aberdeen
Clearly excited about the form of his old club, Harper claims that Celtic will have been worried about facing Aberdeen at Hampden after they drew at Parkhead and beat Rangers last midweek.
Harper told Press & Journal, “Aberdeen went to Parkhead and drew 2-2 with Celtic recently having trailed by two goals at half-time.
“So many teams have crumbled when going two goals down away to Celtic and gone on to suffer heavy defeats, including Aberdeen.
“Not under Thelin whose side roared back into the match to stun the Hoops. The critics’ argument about not being tested holds absolutely no water now as the Reds have gone toe-to-toe with both Rangers and Celtic and are still undefeated.
“And it will have the Glasgow two worried. The Dons are flying and can reach even higher levels by overcoming Celtic in the League Cup semi-final on Saturday.
“Celtic will know they will have to be at the top of their game against Aberdeen at Hampden.”
Why Celtic would not have been worried about Aberdeen
Look, 67 Hail Hail gets it. The excitement surrounding Aberdeen has been building for the last ten games in the league as they got some impressive results to keep up with Celtic.
However, it has been just ten games. Barely just over a quarter of the season has gone and for Aberdeen to do what they have done is commendable but to claim Celtic were worried is just over the top.

Aberdeen passed their first two tests by drawing with the Scottish champions and then taking three points from Rangers at Pittodrie.
But at the third time of asking, Aberdeen failed and Celtic asserted their dominance on Scottish football’s young pretenders.
To win silverware and become the Scottish champions, Aberdeen need to learn that tests don’t just come against Celtic and Rangers. The will to win has to be there every single game.
Looking at how The Dons crumbled at Hampden at the first sight of Celtic pressure suggests that it wasn’t Brendan Rodgers’ team who were worried at the weekend.
