Joe Hart has taken to life at Celtic like a duck to water.

Coming into such a massive rebuild under Ange Postecogolou after suffering from a turbulent time at Tottenham Hotspur, the former England international has played a pivotal part on the pitch to help turn the club’s fortunes around.

But it wasn’t just his commitment to the on-field results that helped crown Celtic champions in his first season.

When Hart put pen to paper at Celtic in the summer of 2021, he reveals what he said to Callum McGregor as the midfielder took over the captaincy from the legendary Scott Brown.

As reported by the Daily Record, Hart said, “Cal is obviously an unreal player and a superb captain. He has stepped into a role where he has had huge boots to fill (replacing Scott Brown).

“Cal has not even tried to fill them – he has gone in his own direction and done a great job. I let him know straight from the off that if he needed anything from me, I would be right by his side.

“Hopefully that combination has worked but you would be in a minority here if you don’t come in and want to give your best every day.

“I love it here. I couldn’t be any prouder to be part of this team, this club and this city. I’m honoured to put the badge on and work for Celtic.”

Hart has been one of the constants since Ange Postecoglou took over Celtic two seasons ago.

In 97 appearances for the club, Hart has achieved 43 clean sheets [Transfermarkt] and has picked up one league winners medal and two league cups so far.

With another league title almost guaranteed and a treble a very real possibility, it is little wonder that the Celtic keeper is loving life at the club.

With just over a year left on his current contract, listening to what he is saying about Celtic leaves me in no doubt that he wants to extend his stay beyond his current deal.
