John Hartson has made a huge call regarding one of Celtic’s best players for the upcoming Scottish Cup match against Livingston.

Celtic still have a chance to complete a league and cup double this season and Livingston now stand in our way on Sunday.

The former Celtic hero thinks that Kyogo Furuhashi will be left on the bench on Sunday for the game against David Martindale’s men simply due to the form of Adam Idah.

Hartson said [The Go Radio Football Show], “It was difficult for him, yeah. He looked sharp [against Hearts].

“He’d sat out the previous two games so he had every right to be sharp and looking to make a point to his manager in terms of maybe coming back into the side.

“I personally don’t think that will happen. I think Idah goes again.

“And the good thing is, from Kyogo’s point of view, you don’t become a bad player overnight. And I still think he has a part to play between now and the end of the season.

“Good players just don’t become bad players. He’s an outstanding centre-forward. It’s just, at this moment in time, Brendan has just decided to go with Idah.”

And who can deny the Republic of Ireland international his place? Apart from the penalty miss at Tynecastle, Idah has not done much wrong since joining Celtic.

Five goals in seven appearances have not only endeared Idah to the Celtic support but have also kept us in the title race. His two penalties against Hibs at Easter Road have now proven to be crucial.

The 22-year-old is at Celtic until the end of the season. As long as he bangs in the goals which help win us the title then the challenge is set for Kyogo.

And the Japanese striker must now stand up to that by taking every single chance that comes his way.
