What a performance by Celtic and what a way to answer the critics after a week of negative headlines.

Brendan Rodgers was keen to get a reaction from his players after he left it late against Motherwell and made three changes to his starting lineup to do so.

And my goodness did it work. Celtic were sublime as they destroyed Tony Docherty’s Dundee in a first-half blitz that saw the Hoops storm to a 6-0 lead thanks to goals from Cameron Carter-Vickers, Adam Idah, Matt O’Riley, Daizen Maeda, Greg Taylor and Callum McGregor.

But it was only 33 minutes into the first half as Celtic went 4-0 up when John Hartson sent his old team a message on X as the former Hoops hero was blown away by Rodgers’ side performance.

John Hartson was blown away with Celtic

We all know Hartson is a dyed-in-the-wool Celtic fan. The big Welshman loves the Hoops and still holds the club close to his heart.

And on social media channel X, a simple three-word message from the Celtic legend let Rodgers and his team know exactly what he thought of their performance tonight.

If that was Hartson’s thoughts in the first half at 4-0, I wonder what he made of the rest of the performance.

Rodgers got a great response from his players tonight and now it’s all about building the momentum. With Hearts up next, the Celtic manager knows he will face a sterner test than he did against Dundee.

With the team full of confidence, the Celtic manager’s team selection for the game at Tynecastle because not one of those players let Rodgers down.

For once, the Celtic manager doesn’t have a selection problem heading into a big game. What a nice difference that makes.
