Adam Idah has settled back into life at Celtic with little fuss and has recently his the goal trail against Slovan Bratislava and Falkirk.

After completing his £9.5 million move from Norwich City, the Republic of Ireland international had to wait until his fifth appearance before getting off the mark in the Champions League last week.

After slotting home to cap a momentous 5-1 victory for Celtic over the Slovak champions, Idah netted a brace in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final against John McGlynn’s outfit last Sunday, helping to overturn a 2-1 deficit as the hosts ran out 5-2 winners to progress to the last four.

His name is a hot topic among the supporters just now due to his recent exploits. 67 Hail Hail recently ran the rule over competition between the Irishman and Kyogo Furuhashi for the number one striker slot amid the congested fixture schedule that is now upon us.

John Hartson has offered his verdict on the pecking order at centre-forward and where Idah lies following a positive start to life back in Glasgow.

John Hartson’s verdict on Adam Idah’s role at Celtic

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, Hartson admitted he thinks Furuhashi will be in front of Idah in the pecking order due to his class. However, the Welshman indicated his striking counterpart will be up for the challenge of claiming the number one jersey.

“I totally agree with that, I totally agree with it. Adam Idah. He can’t just come up to Celtic for £9 million and say, ‘I’m going to sit back and I’m going to watch my teammate Kyogo get all the plaudits’, score all the goals, be the number one striker.

“He’s saying the exact things I would be saying: I want your place, I want to be number one striker and to do that, he has to produce in training. He scored two goals at the weekend, most of the time when he comes on or when he starts, he has to impress the manager.

“I believe Kyogo is in a different class, personally. Adam Idah, he’s been bought for goals on how well he did last season in the last 20 games. He’s at Celtic, he will get time , but for me, he is saying that ‘I’m not going to sit and watch Kyogo play every single week, I want to play’, and that’s exactly the same as I’d be thinking.”

Adam Idah and Kyogo Furuhashi will relish Celtic competition

In any great Celtic team, two players, at a minimum, are usually fighting for every position. Idah and Furuhashi will be aware of this, which can hopefully push both players onto greater heights as they look to cement a slot in the starting line-up.

Competition is key to maintaining high performance levels. Without someone breathing down your neck, the risk of complacency creeps in.

Rest assured, neither player has appeared to be too comfortable when judging their opening performances.

With a barrage of fixtures on the radar, there will be opportunities for the pair to stake their claim for prolonged involvement.
