Celtic’s comfortable victory over Motherwell last weekend became notable for several reasons, with Lennon Miller’s display for the hosts leading pundits to speculate over his long-term future.

In the days since, several pundits have tipped Celtic to pursue Lennon Miller in the future, with Tam McManus claiming the Bhoys should go all out to land the Scottish talent.

While noise continues to bubble regarding his emergence, it would be intriguing to consider where he would fit in Brendan Rodgers’ set-up if any potential move came to light in the immediate term.

Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate and Paulo Bernardo are all established parts of the furniture at the club. Meanwhile, Arne Engels and Luke McCowan have added fresh energy in the engine room.

Nevertheless, you can never have too much talent at Parkhead, especially when they fall into the bracket of being a homegrown star with plenty of development still to go.

John Hartson is the latest to evaluate his situation, offering his verdict on how the youngster may opt to shape the future of his career.

John Hartson’s verdict involving Celtic and Lennon Miller

Speaking on Go Radio Football Show, Hartson believes Celtic will be ‘monitoring’ Miller’s situation at Motherwell alongside a host of other clubs and has cited the Bhoys’ financial capability as a factor many clubs wouldn’t be able to turn down.

Nevertheless, he is also conscious that the youngster has a wise head on his shoulders and seems willing to keep learning his trade at Fir Park before making any such decision about his future.

He stated: “I think Celtic, Rangers and a number of other clubs will be monitoring his situation. He’s had a really fine start to the season; he looks a very level-headed boy with a fantastic talent. Great ability, I think, maybe another year or two at Motherwell. Really learn your trade, and then, if a bid comes in, which they will.

“Normally, when Celtic and Rangers go in with the right type of money, Hibs in the past, Hearts, Kilmarnock when they sold Greg Taylor, other players, Stokes, Griffiths and all those players, sometimes the money is just too big for these other clubs to turn down.

“I think, certainly, a lot of clubs will be monitoring his situation, but I think it’d be better for his career if he just really became one of the best players in that team and had a chance to go and show his talents which he’s got at Motherwell for now. Ultimately, I think other clubs might just look at it him and think, well he’s worth going and signing.”

Celtic bound to have eyes on Lennon Miller’s progress

As the dominant force in Scotland, it is hard to believe Celtic wouldn’t have an eye on Miller’s progress as he continues to establish himself as one of the country’s finest young talents.

Stat-trackers Fotmob show he has created 19 chances and delivered 15 crosses on league duty, excelling in his new advanced role under Stuart Kettlewell.

However, it remains to be seen if Miller remains in Scotland over the next few years. His talent is bound to attract interest from further afield, so Celtic likely wouldn’t be the only club in the conversation.
