Celtic assistant manager John Kennedy has made some comments about Tom Rogic that indicate the midfielder will be a regular in the Hoops starting line-up going forward, the Celtic View reports.

It took some time this season, but in the last few weeks Rogic has had a run of starts for Celtic. In fact, he has started Celtic’s last three fixtures in all competitions, his best run of starts this season. Judging by what Kennedy has to say about the player, don’t look for him to return to the bench any time soon.

“Absolutely outstanding”

“In this last period he’s been absolutely outstanding. He gives the team something different with his creativity and the way he sees the game” Kennedy said, as quoted by the Celtic View (Volume 56, Issue 16, Page. 6),

“It’s been great to have him fit, he’s feeling confident, feeling strong and long may that continue because he’s a very important player for us” Kennedy concluded.

Rogic has played a part in four goals in his four last starts for Celtic. He is playing too well to drop out of the starting line-up. As Kennedy says, he adds that something different. Rogic often sees things that other players aren’t able to.

That was shown most recently in the win over Motherwell. His deft pass set up Mo Elyounoussi for his second goal of the game.

Give the player a break from Europe?

Even though Kennedy’s bigging up of Rogic suggests that he will be a first-team mainstay going forward, it might not be a bad idea to give him a break in the Europa League games coming up. Let’s face it, unless a football miracle happens Celtic are out of the tournament.

With domestic football more important than ever this season Rogic should be allowed to focus on that. The same is true for most of Celtic’s important players, but in particular with Rogic. We don’t want him to be out of action again after picking up an injury. Particularly when he looks to be establishing himself in the team once more.

Next stop for Celtic is Easter Road against Hibernian on Saturday. Judging by Kennedy’s comments Rogic will be in the middle of the park, pulling the strings for the Hoops.
