Neil McCann seemed to have sympathy for Johnny Kenny following a frustrating night for the Celtic forward.
Kenny has been in fine form since Martin O’Neill’s arrival and even earned a last-minute call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad, but struggled to make an impact in the win against St Mirren.
The forward was subbed off at half time as O’Neill tried to change things up to get a tune out of the Hoops.
He will no doubt be disappointed with how he played, but McCann felt that the striker was let down by his teammates.

Johnny Kenny not to blame for difficult performance
McCann was reacting to the game on Sportscene, where he highlighted the lack of service for the 22-year-old.
He said: “I think Johnny Kenny is doing really well for Celtic but the service he was getting today was really difficult service for him.
“He’s not a big physical presence. He’s a player that wants to run behind in the channels but St Mirren were reading things really well.
“The back three were really good but Celtic were just launching things with no direction and eventually Kenny went off at half time.”
Celtic still need a striker in January
The striker has been a huge problem for Celtic and continues to be one that needs addressing.
Callum Osmand and Kenny both have potential while Kelechi Iheanacho has chipped in with the odd goal before his injury.
Daizen Maeda and Shin Yamada have looked off the pace for most of the season, and now with Osmand and Iheanacho both out injured, options are limited.

Louis Munteanu is available on the cheap as Cluj may be forced to sell due to ongoing financial issues, while other targets may appear in the build-up to the transfer window.
Having another body through the door would take the burden off Kenny and provide a different type of outlet when Celtic need to switch up their play.
