Jordan Larsson is set to link up with Celtic hero Moussa Dembele at El-Ettifaq, according to Fabrizio Romano.

As the son of Henrik Larsson, the winger is never far away from a link with Celtic; he has forged a decent career in his own right.

He has featured for AIK Stockholm, Spartak Moscow, Schalke and most recently Copenhagen, where he played with another Hoops favourite in Mohamed Elyounoussi.

He is now reportedly set for a move to the Middle East, taking a foreign player slot which had been occupied by Jack Hendry.

Jordan Larsson ‘agrees personal terms’ with Al-Ettifaq

According to Romano, Larsson has agreed personal terms on a move to the Saudi Pro League side, with club-to-club talks now set to commence.

Larsson has just had one of the best seasons of his career in Denmark, in a disappointing campaign for his club as a whole.

Larsson spent eight years of his upbringing in Scotland, during his dad’s iconic career in Glasgow. He has described himself as a Celtic fan.

Initially breaking through as a striker playing under his father, he now operates as a left-footed right-winger.

It’s ironically a profile that Martin O’Neill could do with this summer; Larsson managed three goals in the League Phase of the Champions League this season.

Also among Larsson’s teammates at Parken were ex-Celtic full-back targets Birger Meling and Aurelio Buta.

Dembele, on the other hand, is entering his fourth season with the Saudi club, for whom he was signed by Steven Gerrard in 2023.

The Frenchman could potentially be able to say that he’s played with both Henrik and Jordan, having featured with the former in Scott Brown’s testimonial.

In a classic Hollywood script, Dembele scored against Brendan Rodgers’ Al-Ettifaq a few months back, on what was likely an awkward reunion given the acrimonious nature of the pair’s split in 2018.

Jordan Larsson on playing for Celtic one day

Speaking about the idea of playing for Celtic back in 2020, Larsson said: “For me, Celtic will always have a special place in my heart.

“Not that I’ve played there in that sense, but it was the first place where I saw football as a young kid; going with my mother to see games when my father was playing.

“That’s where I have the biggest memories in my head: ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’… you have all the scarves before the games and everything, so of course it will always have a special place in my heart.

“But at the same time, since my father is who he is at the club, I think for me personally, if I would ever have the chance to play there, then I would like to establish myself even more, make my own name before I would play there…

“If that chance would ever come up! But of course, it’s tempting.”
