Celtic defender Josip Juranovic has brilliantly labelled his Celtic period as the “best time of my life” today.

Juranovic was a £2.5m summer signing from Legia Warsaw [Sky Sports]. The Croatian full-back joined up on a 5-year deal, showing how much he was keen to sign up for the Ange Postecoglou revolution.

Throughout his time at Parkhead, the former Legia man has been playing out of position. Despite being a natural right-back, Josip has regularly been pushed over to the left flank in an unusual move from the manager.

But as he continues to get to grips with his Parkhead role, Juranovic is clearly loving life in Scotland and he couldn’t hide his enjoyment at how things are going so far.

Speaking via Celtic TV, Josip said: “[It’s going] really well. The city is beautiful, the people are great and here at the club everything is wonderful. It’s really the best time of my life because we are playing well, we’re like a family and we support each other.

“We are improving game by game, day by day on the training sessions. We want to keep on track with what the manager wants from us. You can see also on the pitch that we are giving 100% and that’s the most important thing.

“[I expected the impact of Celtic] because Celtic is a big name in Europe.”

Josip Juranovic loving life as he impresses Celtic supporters early on

Juranovic can’t help but show how much he’s loving life in Scotland and it’s great to hear and see. Particularly from new signings too who are still trying to adapt to the country and the new footballing environment they’ve been dropped into.

Juranovic is thriving so far despite playing on his weaker side. Whilst there are weaknesses there, most of these simply come from the fact this isn’t his strongest position.

You can see regularly how often the player wants to take the ball onto his right foot. Regardless of how efficient he can prove to be over the course of the 90 minutes, it still isn’t ideal to have that trait in your left-back.

The player himself is undoubtedly hoping he’ll be playing in his strongest position in the near future. After all, it’s where he’s currently operating with the Croatian national team. He won’t want to put that particular spot in any danger, and moving over to that same area for his club will only help him.

But credit to him for how he’s taken to the left-back berth for now. We might not be seeing the best of him as of yet, but we’re still watching a pretty top class version. Juranovic has played 14 games for Celtic with only 2 coming in his natural position [Transfermarkt].

Hopefully, it’s something Ange moves to rectify come January when he hopefully brings a first-choice left-back to the club. It’s very much a case of watch this space at the moment.
