Josip Juranovic has described the new song honouring him from the Celtic support as ‘funny’ but also thinks it’s ‘really special’.

Celtic fans have co-opted the song Fireball by Pitbull to chant Juranovic’s name from the stands. It’s been bubbling under the surface for a while but thousands got in on the act on Wednesday night against Rangers.

The club has since leaned into the entire thing, posting a video on Instagram earlier this week much to the delight of online supporters.

Asked by a fan for his thoughts on it all in a Q+A today Juranovic said: “It’s funny, but also for me I’m proud the fans make a song about me! I heard it during the game and it felt really special.”

Celtic fans have had the chance to come up with many new songs this season, such is the turnover in management and playing personnel at the club.

Kyogo Furuhashi has his tune, while Ange Postecoglou, Jota and even Reo Hatate have all been honoured.

It’s only fitting that Juranovic would get his own. He’s been one of the best signings of the season and was absolutely exceptional against Rangers.

Despite tough competition from Anthony Ralston, he’s made that right-back slot his own and is set to go from strength to strength over the coming weeks and months.

If he continues to play like this, the love affair with the supporters will only deepen.
