Isn’t this a sight for sore eyes, Celtic fans?

It has been the best part of two years since we have seen Jota in a Hoops training kit after he left in 2023 for Al-Ittihad in a £25million deal.

This morning, though, our superstar from Portugal donned the black and green gear and took part in his first session under new manager Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers explained how he wanted to work with Jota before he departed for Saudi and the Irishman finally got his wish at Lennoxtown as the playmaker was put through his paces for the first time.

Jota is back in Celtic training after two years

It will likely be a different environment for the 25-year-old, we imagine, given that he left just after former boss Ange Postecoglou and the Australian had a different dynamic at LT than Rodgers does.

But Jota was getting stuck in alongside his teammates after ending his exile in France with a lack of game time limiting his chances under Jorge Sampaoli.

One player obviously not there to welcome Jota back was Kyogo who made the move the other way to the Ligue 1 club this week.

The Japanese hitman had an emotional goodbye for Celtic fans with his now-former teammates wishing him good luck at his new club.

Jota, meanwhile, will obviously not be available for tomorrow night’s clash with Aston Villa down south in the Champions League given the registration.

When Jota could make his Celtic debut

But fans should not have to wait too long before seeing their man in action again.

Celts face off against Motherwell at Fir Park on February 2 where the wide player could be handed his re-debut under Rodgers this time.

And those waiting to see him in front of a packed out Parkhead won’t have to wait too long after that as the rescheduled clash with Dundee due to Storm Eowyn is coming in midweek on February 5.

By that time Celts will hope to also have a new striker in to replace Kyogo.

Mathias Kvistgaarden remains an option.
